New Product: Jubei or Jackal?

Kunio Okawara's latest mechanical design for the Frame Arms series is Jubei. However, I have doubts that Jubei will have many buyers when it is released in December. I am not fond of the price tag of 6,800 YEN. It seems to be 28-29% pricier than Kenshin, despite the fact that the package includes only a few playable accessories. The swappable expression faces part of the third design may seem unusual, but it's an intriguing approach. It gives off a Super Robot Wars vibe, reminiscent of DyGenGuar. If I had to choose which pre-order to prioritize, my top pick would be the Hexa Gear Bulkarmλ Jackal.

I think that the Bulkarmλ Jackal is going to be a popular choice among buyers, thanks to the strong support it has from the HG community. The kit's final colour is highly detailed and offers a lot of versatility in terms of playability. When Kotobukiya unveiled the next Bulkarm prototype at an exhibition, it received positive feedback for its design. However, the Frame Arms series (not the Girl series) has been on the decline and hasn't shown much improvement in its frame. It's hard to predict where the series is headed in the future.

Frame Arms - Kenshin

Designed by the world-renowned Japanese mechanical designer, Kunio Okawara, the latest model to join the Frame Arms series is KENSHIN!

Model Specifications:

• This model is made to pair with SHINGEN which was also designed by Kunio Okawara.
• The model can be displayed in 2 different forms, either with a warrior’s helmet or a priest’s swallow-tailed cap.
• The new unique designs are shown on various parts of this model such as the helmet and the flag emblem on its back. They bring out the primary colours of the model which are blue, red, and gold.
• The model’s colour scheme is recreated with coloured plastic. The multi-coloured plastic of the kits gives the model a striking appearance simply by assembling the model.
• A long-handled sword (“Naginata”), a long and short Japanese sword, and a “gunbai” (military leader’s fan) for SHINGEN are included.
• The wings with the emblem secured with a backpack and the shoulder armour can be adjusted freely to create a variety of silhouettes.
• The hand parts use swing joints. Gun-holding hand parts are included with “FA Hand 2.”
• The kit includes decals for this model.
• The model uses Frame Architect Renewal ver. for the robot’s frame. The Frame Architect is unassembled and made of PS plastic.
• The hips of Frame Architect use joint parts that allow for more secure support.

Frame Arms - Kenshin Preview

Kotobukiya Collection has revealed the latest Frame Arms lineup and it's called Kenshin! This will be the second samurai theme introduced into the FA universe.

Frame Arms - Revenant Eye Reissue RE:2 and Armor Parts (Ver. F.M.E)

Another version update for both RE:2 and F.M.E has been announced, this time it's Revenant Eye and set to release next year on April 2022. The new update RE:2 will sell for 3,800 YEN, which has increased from 3,600 YEN and the F.M.E armour set retail for 2,300 YEN.

I am personally not quite a fan of this set because the price doesn't seem to justify when it comes with fewer parts compared to other releases, even adding the FreeStyle Gun doesn't seem to make sense to me. If I were to get it, the armour set is the best to go for. 

Frame ARms - Greifen Armor Parts (F.M.E Version)

So, Frame Arms Greifen is getting RE2 update and Kotobukiya decided to push more F.M.E released. If you guys are interested, you can start placing your order, the expected released will be next year in March. Again, do take note that this set only includes the outer armour. The FRAME ARCHITECT TYPE-001:RE2 is sold separately.

Frame Arms - Type-Hector Joyeuse [Exclusive Items]

A colour variation of the TYPE-HECTOR DURANDAL model designed by Kou Inaba is joining the Frame Arms lineup! The new colour scheme was selected by Kou Inaba himself. This model kit comes with armour and clear parts not included in the original version.

• This model uses a dark grey colour scheme. This multi-coloured kit allows users to build a realistic model with no painting required.
• The head sensor is made of clear plastic. The kit also includes a colourless clear part that can be customized with model paint.
• The sword, which is the longest in the Frame Arms series at almost 26cm long, can be removed from the base. The kit also includes a colourless clear blade part for the sword.
• The kit includes two sets of launcher/swords and shields that can be attached to the arms from the shoulder and can be adjusted flexibly. The launcher’s grip uses a sliding feature that enables it to be held in the model’s hands.
• The model is equipped with 3mm joints on various parts, allowing for a wide range of customizations.
• The hand parts use swing joints and “FA Hand 2” with gun-holding hand parts are included.
• The model uses Frame Architect Renewal Ver. for the base frame. The Frame Architect is made of PS plastic and not pre-assembled in this model kit.

This is truly really surprising and my hunch was correct back then! 😁 Kotobukiya really sees the popularity of this garage kit last year at Wonder Festival and decided to license its design making it available worldwide! The amazing about this release, it comes with a new design rifle and booster parts. Damn them for making me so happy hitting pre-ordering now.

A special append kit made up of the exterior parts and armor of the heaviest Frame Arms models in the series: “TYPE48MODEL1 KAGUTSUCHI-KOU”, “TYPE48MODEL2 KAGUTSUCHI-OTSU SNIPER”, and “TYPE48MODEL2 KAGUTSUCHI-OTSU FENCER”.

• Combine with the separately sold “FRAME ARCHITECT TYPE-001〈GRAY〉:RE2” to recreate either “KAGUTSUCHI-KOU” or “KAGUTSUCHI-OTSU”.

Frame Arms - Wilber Nine/Second Jive Armor Set Ver. F.M.E.

Kotobukiya has announced both Wilber Nine/Second Jive will be getting a reissue in June next year. What I didn't expect, they decided to bring their armor set into F.M.E (For Modeler Edition) next release. This is a great move and more an economical way to purchase.

This is a special append kit made up of the exterior parts and armor set of the Frame Arms with some of the most unique transformation mechanisms in the series: “RF-12 WILBER NINE” and “RF-12/B SECOND JIVE”.

• By combining with the separately sold “FRAME ARCHITECT TYPE-001〈GRAY〉:RE2”, users can recreate either “WILBER NINE” or “SECOND JIVE”.
• The main coloration theme of the armor parts is set as off white. Due to the coloration being one that is easy to paint with, this is a model kit that users can enjoy painting with.
• The clear parts included are of a transparent clear color for users to paint and customize.

This is a surprise. NSG-Z0/G Magatsuki - Houten previously advertised and released as Miyazawa limited edition back in 2015, now going official retail. Not really sure what happened here but the good news also the selling price remained at 5,600 YEN.

NSG-Z0/D MAGATSUKI rejoins the FRAME ARMS series with a new color scheme and updated weapons as NSG-Z0/G MAGATSUKI-HOUTEN!

With the additional units included in this model kit designed by MAGATSUKI’s designer, ToMo, this model kit is highly compatible with Kotobukiya’s other original model kits and gives you extra bang for your buck.

• All-new additional units for the shoulders and legs parts are included. Also, a new color scheme is used for the model for an updated appearance.
• Including the exclusive weapons “Tenkai (long sword)” x2 and “Satsuga (short sword)” x2, the newly designed large gun weapon “Kyouten” and rifle weapon “Ootori” is also included as extra weapons.

Frame Arms - Type 34 Model 1B Jin-Rai with Assault Unit

Again, I personally find Jin-Rai is a lazy idea and disappointed Frame Arms released so far from Kotobukiya. This time yet again they decided to slap the M.S.G weapon and supply unit by creating an Assualt unit to call it a day. Nothing new to its design except introducing some new parts and improvement to the joins which are quite interesting at least. 

The pre-order for 4,400 YEN is simply not worth it. Recommend you wait for the discount.

Frame Arms - CVX-83 Izumo (Name Updated)

FA Blog has announced Frame Arms CVX-83 Izumo Kongo II (or Izumo?) and the reservation will start on 21st May. The colors version shows more information on its new design armor parts, head unit, rifle, and even comes with separate little drones! I hope that this release will include previous Kongo parts as I plan to pick up this one.

Wonder Festival Winter 2020 - Frame Arms

Wonder Festival Winter 2020 is now started today. It seems like again, not much new Frame Arms announcement. Kong 2 prototype already showcase last year and planning release SA-16Ex Stylet (Multi Weapon Expansion Test Type) currently display at the exhibition. Only Kunio Okawara original samurai design prototype finally reveal.

Frame Arms - SA-16Ex Stylet (Multi Weapon Expansion Test Type)

As the name describes, SA-16Ex Stylet features new add-on parts for mounting M.S.G weapons units or other 3mm compatible option parts. The SA-16Ex Stylet kits will still include the original Stylet parts and this release also comes with pair of discontinuing M.S.G Double Machine Gun weapon unit 07. Schedules retail release on June 2020 for 4,500 YEN.

Frame Arms - 10th Anniversary Today!

Official Post: Today 10/26 is Frame Arms 10th Anniversary! It has been 10 years since the first 3 products were shipped from the manufacturer. Since then, more than 50 items have appeared, and the number of items currently being accepted for reservation has reached 2 days.
